Metamorphosis
Everyone wants to be comfortable in their own skin, no matter their age. The constant strain of maintaining one’s body through daily exercise, personal hygiene, and trying to meet (or even exceed) certain societal standards can be cumbersome.
As this project began in my early thirties and is ongoing, I think about the metamorphosis that my body has gone through over the years and where it is headed in the future. I ask myself lots of questions.
How long will I remain this size and shape?
Do I care anymore when people ask me about my birthmark?
Do people notice I have white hairs mixed in with the brown ones?
Will I ever decide to have children?
The list is endless, and I don’t have clear answers.
These images are a way for me to begin to externalize these thoughts.
